Fad Free! Healthy Eating Without the Hype By Niki Rodino
The e-book's better than the audio, March 28, 2007
Reviewer: Lynn Lopez
It doesn't just focus on regular, everyday eating, but also shares some ways on how kids, vegetarians, older people, and pregnant women can choose good food items. Holiday eating is also given attention, and we all know how important it is to limit one's intake of heavy holiday meals, so that's a nice section.
As much as I enjoyed the tips, because the healthy eating advice provided is sound, I personally find the e-book a little hard to listen to. I like audio books that are read by a nice, smooth, and lively (but not hysterically perky) voice, and this one just sounded bland, mechanical, and even computerized to me.
Overall, this could work a lot better if it were just an e-book, and happily this package includes a PDF of the e-book. It would be easier to have such eating tips printed out and ready for you to consult whenever you think you're backsliding into bad eating habits.

Could have been a unique e-book, December 30, 2007
I am a bit disappointed with the way this e-book was written, as I see a lot of potential with the information here. In the beginning, the information looked so-so to me – the usual healthy eating advice you see in other reports, e-books and even in popular media. There are even some redundant information here – I believe the sections “The Healthiest Foods You Can Get” and “The Healthiest Food Choices,” for example, can be merged in one section. The section on “Eating For A Healthy Heart” was also not well-incorporated here. Why single out heart disease prevention, say, over cancer and other terminal diseases? Had the author mentioned facts like heart disease is the leading cause of death or something like that, then singling out heart disease would have been justified.
Things began to get interesting, though, when I reached the sections on eating when under stress, holiday eating, eating during pregnancy, etc. This book was onto something. Why not instead of focusing on healthy eating in general, the author make it more specific, like “Eating Healthy Anytime, Anywhere?” After all, that is the interesting and majority portion of this e-book.
Also, while I appreciate that this e-book is both in print and audio format, I wish the audio could have been livelier and more engaging. As it is right now, the voice is a monotone all throughout the e-book.
