Installation Gremlins - Revisited, July 12, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Chris Redman |
I down loaded the Media Autoresponders software with excitement. Having looked at one other package and found it easy to install, I imagined this would be just as simple.
The install instructions are a few apparently simple steps for uploading and modifying a few of the files to access your sites webmail etc.
Perhaps it’s me but I found the instructions complicated. When opening the files to be modified the confusion became greater. Finnally after some long time I eventually got to the point of logging into the control panel for the software, upon entering the usernane and password I had assigbed according to the instructions I was told that I had to enter a username. I checked in all the files, including the MySQL database and tried again.
Some hours later I still can’t get into the system. I tried to get it to mail my usernam,e and password to me but hey It tells me that either the username or password is incorrect.
I am going to give it one more try, by uninstalling it and starting again. Who knows the gremlins may just vanish.
I have tried to find on-line help but have not been successful. I did find a customer support site but when looking at the various topics there I could not find a single entry. I did submitt a ticket so let’s see if I get a reply, and if it helps.
So I believe the system needs a more detailed instalation document and more comment lines in the files you have to edit.
Perhaps given that it may be a good system!!
After the above I found a support site for the software and posted a ticket. Shortly after I got a reply which suggested that the globals setting on my host was not set to "on". I contacted my host and they reset it and YES I got on.
Then I encountered problems with the cron jobs and after some time with the help of my host got that sorted.
Now I am setting up the responder mails. Whilst the mails themselves seem to run correctly when I try to upload attachments they fail. Yet again I contacted support and got a reply but the fix did not work. I will let you know how I progress with this.

Latest news.
I have received some great help via the support service. I can now upload attachments to the system so now I am about ready to put the system onto my new site. I will keep you informed. |

Autoresponders are not created equal, September 12, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Barry Ramlow |
| This software has proved to be the best I have tried for autoresponders and I have tried many. Though there is very little (and I mean very little) documentation to help you with questions, it still has proved to be an acceptable product. The installation is a bit tedious and good knowledge of script installation and cPanel is required. The major problem I had with it was the fact that I loaded my 156,000 database and it would only mail to about 1,600 of them and then quit. I have found no support for the product and I am resorting to a programmer to help with it. The uploading of a database is made very simple in this product, but again if you can't mail to a large list it is not useful. I am almost sure that I have overlooked something and I will find the cure with more research. |

Another problem, can't actually upload media., September 26, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Bruce Andrews |
My word, why did I bother, now I find this program will not upload media at all. I keep getting script errors. The promo for this says this is new for 2007, but I have found out this is version 1, and there is a version 2 out there that does actually work.
Can we have that one please?
If I had bought this at it's full price, I would have asked for a refund. |

| Okay, for those who are not used to working with scripts, you might need a little help to be able to install this on your site, and you're going to need it, because the whole thing can get quite confusing. It's not the easiest thing to work with, and I've had a few difficulties getting it up and running; I still am, so it looks like I'm going to need to get a programmer to help me figure it out. be warned on that matter. I think this could probably do with more detailed, clearer installation and troubleshooting documentation. That's about the only thing I can say about this product so far since I pretty much haven't been able to do a thing with it so far. I'll certainly keep trying though. So you can consider this as just a little warning for everyone who might want to check this out. |

Installation is painful, January 21, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Lokesh Kumar |
| The features look great and unique but I have been unsuccessful in installing this. I am a computer consultant. Most of the e-commerce scripts come with a good README file and I have installed without any support personell help. For this Media Autoresponder, I asked for support help and they offered some suggestions about setting globals on but I am still not able to login. I'm not sure if it is worth my time trying to get this to work.... |

Waste of Time, May 06, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Paul Tuttle |
I finally got this installed. I learn more with each script I install.
Once installed, the script does not appear to be able to import names/emails.
There is no support I could find. It looks like someone else bought the domain.
I have learned that you can't buy a script...
You can only rent it from the developer. Things are always changing and they need continual updating and customer support.
Save your time and bypass this dog. Jeremy needs to delete this from the site. It's that bad.

Doesn't Work, July 24, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Howard Tiano |
Wasted alot of time trying to get it to work, but to no avail.
Found out this DOESN'T play audio or video IN the actual email as claimed - just provides a link.
No support, no communication, and couldn't get a refund.
Total scam. Jeremy should delete this entry, and Matthew Griffin for selling this dog. |

This product has great potential. The install instructions needs more details. If you do not have scripting knowledge this will be a challenge to get it working. If you get it to work please share the knowledge with me.
Thank you. |

How to get the login working, October 26, 2008 |
| Reviewer: valdor kiebach |
This is script is ok for an autoresponder.
If you are getting the problem of trying to login just returns you to the login screen then do this:
Open a text editor (notepad is good)
type this in:
Options All -Indexes
php_flag register_globals On
Save the file as .htaccess (note the file has no name just .htaccess)
Put this file in the same directory as you installed the media responder script in.
This should make the script work. |

Is A Good Product Provide . . ., November 05, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Blake Andrews |
You have the right hosting account. I have two different WebHosting Accounts. I had to try both to get it to work. The expensive one that I use that big name Internet Marketers endorse wouldn't run it with the php.ini fix. My cheap hosting account on the other had did run it after the php.ini fix. My php.ini file contains just this line:
register_globals = on
If anyone is interested integrityhost is my provider that the script will run on. I won't mention the one that it didn't. Now I didn't contact the people at the hosting account that it didn't run on to fix it for me, I didn't want to ruffle any feathers.
I like it now that it runs. I would say that if you wrapped it up nicely within a membership script that you could even use it to create an autoresponder service like aweber. It just isn't as pretty as aweber, but I think it will do the job nicely.

Problematic, July 27, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Bruce Brown |
I spent literally days trying to access this product. The install went fine, only trying to log in would not allow access. Tried all kinds of things with the files. Found no support.
Only after creating "pho.ini" with one line "register_globals = on" file as per your reviewer instruction did I gain access. The .htaccess file option did not work on my server
I haven't tested the whole system yet, but it does at least work. Whether it is worth $97 is debatable.
