Q. Please tell us a little about your background. I'm 34 from Chesapeake, VA. I've been in the Navy 16 and a half years and have been writing fiction novels as a hobby for 21 years. I've been bouncing around from affiliate program to affiliate program on the net for the past 4 years and just recently gained a serious interest in niche marketing.
Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field? Everytime I brainstorm a new business concept or look deep into what my burning desire is, it always falls back to my writing.
Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website? I've spent over three years researching fiction publishing. I've never had enough money to publish my work (so I thought) and never really pursued it until the past few months. I spent the past three months doing some extensive researched and found that publishing fiction is very easy and can be done practically for free. Once I discovered this, the niche area I built my site around just came together like magic.
Q. How did you design and build your website? I designed my entire site on SiteSell using NPOD and NitroIncubator mentoring and training programs for my reference materials.
Q. What software do you use to run your business? I run everything on Microsoft Excel and Word for tracking and timekeeping and the SiteBuildIt! suite for my web development and statistical tracking.
Q. How does your website generate income? Through Google Adsense, affiliate programs, my own products and services, and through direct list marketing.
Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services? All payments are collected via the affiliate and advertising programs and I accept check, paypal and stormpay for my own products and services.
Q. What promotion methods do you use? Primarily online advertising as well as word of mouth. I will be exploring direct marketing methods as well in the near future.
Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results? I haven't launched any major campaigns for income yet.
Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you? Regular safelist email campaigns, blasters, traffic exchanges, and search engines have been providing me with a continuous stream of newsletter subscribers.
Q. What is your biggest challenge each month? Finding where all of the fiction writers are. It's very difficult to find a specific target market for writers. Most writers do it for a hobby and are hidden everywhere.
Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business? My angle was very weak when I first started. Once I published my exclusive report, I was off and running strong. My report was the angle I needed to throw a twist into the entire niche concept that makes my site unique.
Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business? I've been in online business for four years and basically restarted my entire life when I created my niche site. This is pretty much all I work on anymore besides the Navy.
Q. How has your SureFireWealth.com membership helped you with your online business? Yes. I've found some great ebooks that have enlightened me in several areas I was weak in.
Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you? Find the right angle to go with the niche that is unique from your competitors.
