Q. Please tell us a little about your background.
I've always been interested in computers. Ever since I've had high speed internet I always wanted to make money on it to justify spending so much on it monthly. My first online marketing was on yahoo auctions selling customized "leaving ebay cds" I bet at least a few of you have heard of that cd.

Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field?
Shortly after I had my first taste of online sales selling my own customized "leaving ebay cd" on yahoo auctions I got my first cell phone from what was at the time voicestream. I had a nokia 3390 which was a fairly common phone. I was interested in customizing the phone and basically messing with it in all ways I could learn how. this led me to buying a cd on the subject of unlocking phones. I then began to compile my own information on the subject and again made my own version and stated selling it on...yahoo auctions! People stated asking if the cd would support this phone or that phone. And ALOT of people were interested in sony ericsson phones. and that's how I got into selling what I sell on my current website.

Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website?
Basically just started giving people what they were asking for.

Q. How did you design and build your website?
I built my site with a Content management system called Mambo. I did this because of the ease in which you can set up a free member area as well as have a nice website structure without going in and actually hardcoding all the html on each page.

Q. What software do you use to run your business?
I use mambo as the system that actually runs the site. I also use 1shoppingcart for adtracking/shoppingcart/jv-affiliate program/auto responders. I also use a sweet little script called co-reg master which allows me to blend my site download area registration form with my 1shoppingcart autoresponder opt-in form.

Q. How does your website generate income?
By selling physical products as well as credits to use the software on my site.

Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services?
Paypal and merchant account.

Q. What promotion methods do you use?
My main two sources of traffic are forums online and ebay.

Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results?
I get the best conversion rate on clicks that come from ebay...but of course the fourm traffic is free so I end up making more from that.

Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you?
Ebay and forums for me have been the safest since they require very little upfront cash.

Q. What is your biggest challenge each month?
Comming up with back end offers and keeping my relationship with customers. I get lots of new customers every month like over 100 but I need to develop more of a backend sales process.

Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business?
Not making things more automated from the start. I'm still physically shipping each order I recieve. Not charging more for my products. Not testing more...basically just being lazy and not putting that much effort into the business.

Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business?
I've paid off about 98% of my debt and even though I still have my day job (for now) I don't have to worry about only having income from that day job.

Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you?
