Needs more original content, March 23, 2007

I like simple-looking sites with understated designs, and Sheet Music For Songs's look suits me fine. The site's main content includes information on music organizations, different kinds of sheet music, and why they're used. I didn't like the way different sections of the site open in a pop-up windows, but as it turned out, the rest of the site's contents come from MusicNotes.com, from the blog to the actual sheet music itself. Kind of deceiving, because I assumed Sheet Music For Songs offered its own sheet music.
To actually view the sheet music on Music Notes, you're going to have to download a sheet viewer, which I was apprehensive about at first. Who knows if such software installations are legit? You can't be too careful. Luckily, the sheet viewer worked fine, but it also has a feature which enables you to listen to the music. That requires another download of the plugin, which I thought was too much.
So I wasn't entirely happy with the site because I think there should be more original content. Maybe it would help if it provided its own sheet music and didn't just link to the content on Music Notes.
