Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field?

A. Roger has, since childhood, been interested in language and words that sound the same. Found very little information about the topic in 1996/97.  

Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website?

A. Searched the web for all sites pertaining to homophones and homonyms -- very little. Searched libraries and book stores for homonym and homophone dictionaries -- only one dictionary (USA).

Q. How did you design and build your website?

A. Taught ourselves HTML and then used an HTML editor to design and code all our website.


Q. What software do you use to run your business?

A. The operating systems are Windows 2000 Pro and Win XP Pro. Site development is maintained by using Edit-Plus, MS Word, all the major graphics software packages, Adobe Acrobat Writer and Reader, MS Access.



Q. How does your website generate income?

A. Sale of all our e-products online, using ClickBank for financial transactions.

Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services?

A. ClickBank payments.

Q. What promotion methods do you use?

A. Search engines, customer lists, weekly chiastic quote sent to subscribers.


Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results?

A. Search engines bring most of the traffic for sales. This is a VERY targeted niche, so anybody visiting the site is looking only for homonyms and homophones. Some sales come from links, but not many.

Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you?

A. Search engine positioning. For our targeted key words and content, RR has been top choice in SE results since October 2000.  

Q. What is your biggest challenge each month?

A. Getting more targeted traffic.

Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business?

A. Not having the site translated sooner, for non native English speakers wanting to learn about English.

Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business?

A. More flexible and better time management.

A. We just started and this is only the beginning.

Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you?

A. Would not say anything to those starting a website in the SAME niche. However, for those in a similar, allied niche, would attempt some form of reciprocal linking. For example, we have some links at quote sites and other language sites around the web -- but none to any site that is exclusively about homonyms or homophones.
