Q. Please tell us a little about your background.
I am basically an Electronics Engineer. But of late, I've switched over to doing business on the Web.
Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field?
My passion for movie special effects, ever since I watched "The Ten Commandments" as a kid.
Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website?
I usually have all the information at my fingertips. Just a matter of allotting time to put the fingertips to the keyboard.
Q. How did you design and build your website?
I learnt HTML and graphics design on my own, almost ten years back. Web creation is now as easy as scribbling on a notepad.
Q. What software do you use to run your business?
NotePad & Nvu for HTML. Paint Shop Pro and Maya for graphics.
Q. How does your website generate income?
Basically Adsense. I am yet to generate income through affiliate products. I am also planning on providing a Special Effects Course online.
Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services?
Adsense checks.
Q. What promotion methods do you use?
I submitted my site to Yahoo ten years back. Then to Dmoz and Google a little later. On it's own, it made it's way up to the first page on Google over the years.
Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results?
Good content that's useful to the visitors. Give and it shall be given unto you.
Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you?
Search engines.
Q. What is your biggest challenge each month?
Writing good content every week.
Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business?
Never implemented Adsense until last year.
Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business?
I can confidently turndown well-paying jobs. Business is the way to go, especially online.
