The site grabs the reader's attention with one of the most frequently repeated tips on writing attention-getting sales letters: promise great savings and cheaper prices. This site contains every kind of information you need to know about biodiesel, and it doesn't just talk about the production process. It also shares information on the benefits as well as the equipment you need to have to make it at home.
The site and its contents are laid out nicely and in an orderly manner, plus the ads are positioned properly around the site and not at all cluttered. Best of all, the information is very easy to read and understand, thanks to the simple language used and how well-written it is. That's not to say it's typo-free, but it's done well. Even if people reading this won't be manufacturing biodiesel, it's still an informative source for those who want to know more about it.

great content, but layout needs tweaking., July 05, 2007

Though the content of this website is indeed useful and informative, and it has been optimized for the search engines so effectively, I'm afraid that the emphasis on keywords and ad revenue had become too much that aesthetics had been neglected.
Though the colors are great, the layout is good, there is much too much of adsense that the reader would be distracted in reading the articles.
The articles are overrun with links, and the header picture is just too filled with colors and has too much going on that I got confused.
Another downside is that when the mouse is rolled over the links, the effect used is a light golden glow. That kind of effect would look good on a social networking profile, if used with taste, and would be appropriate for the use of funky 20-something girls, but it's hardly the type pf effect to be used on a website with a topic as relevant as biodiesel.
The bottom line is, great content, but the site's aesthetic details need tweaking.
I understand that this may be a site created to gather adsense money, but then adsense channels could be put on a layout that is not as distracting as this one.
Just my two cents' worth.

Interesting, but could be better, October 12, 2007

Now this one has a very catchy headline that invites you to read on. The point is interesting – if you can make barbecue sauce at home, then you can make biodiesel. It sounds easy too. The homepage would have been more effective – and persuasive – though, if all benefits of making biodiesel were already placed here upfront. As it is, it has only been mentioned briefly here. Mentioning the “why” at once will more likely increase the website visitor’s interest. The “Why make Biodiesel at home?” article may be placed in the homepage already.
The layout is ok, with the main text in the middle and the menu on the left and the ads on the right. However, the menu looks a bit cluttered and disorganized. This could have been solved by making main categories and subcategories. Also the “biodiesel blog” could have been put below after all the options for the website as it is a link to another website.
The standard choices “about us,” “contact us,” etc. could be placed in a separate navigation bar.
Also, the black text of the URL written over the photo above the website is a bit distracting. I cannot tell whether this is intentional or not.
