Q. Please tell us a little about your background.

A. Born in Glasgow and move to Yorkshire 22 years ago. I started life out as an engineer and spent 10 years in the merchant navy. I joined the Life Insurance Industry in 1978 and I am still in it.

Q. What made you decide to start a website in the golf field?

A. I think when you are going to build a site you must have a passion for the topic, if not you will not put the work required into developing your site and its content, I choose golf because I love the game.

Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website?

A. Good question, I research other sites for ideas. Keyword research also played a big part, researched the merchants to see what they had on offer what  made them different etc.

Q. How did you design and build your website?

A. Well I am not a "techie" so I used a company called Site build it they have a great step by step program.


Q. What software do you use to run your business?

A. Site Build It


Q. How does your website generate income?

A. Through affiliate links to merchants, affiliate programs that I am comfortable with.

Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services?

A. Via the merchants and Paypal

Q. What promotion methods do you use?

A. I promote using safelists, e zines, solo ads, submission software, my own list, and leads which are provided with some of the programs of which I am a member.

Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results?

A. Recently solo ads, but have had some success with safelists and e mail  marketing.

Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you?

A. Probably starting my blog and listing in all the directories I can find.

Q. What is your biggest challenge each month?


A. To increase the income from my online business to get me closer to retiring.

Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business?

A. Probably way back when I started joined to many programs, wasted tons of money, just didn't focus properly.

Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business?

A. It hasn't changed significantly yet but I am winning.
