Interview By: Jeremy Gislason Interview Date: 13-Jul-05
Q. Please tell us a little about your background. I was a practicing Hypnotherapist for over twenty years and retired three eyars ago. I also run live courses training Hypnotherapists for sixteen years. Prior to that I had qualified as an accountant after spending eighteen years in the British Army.
Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field? Accountancy, even though it paid well, was the most broing thing I have ever done in my life and I swore I would never return to a boring job again no matter how tempting. Hypnotherapy was ideal as I felt I had an affinity to it and on retirement, I felt I must do something with the knowledge and expertise I had gained treating many thousands of clients. So I looked to the Internet as a challenge and have never looked back.
Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your
website? None, it just seemed like a good idea and, as I have said, a challenge.
Q. How did you design and build your website? Through trial and error using MS Frontpage.
Q. What software do you use to run your business? Ace FTP, MS Frontpage and Windows XP.
Q. How does your website generate income? I sell my Diploma Course as a stand alone exe file containing 31 lessons at a price that undercuts other similar training establishments by as much as 90%.
Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services? Through PayPal and ClickBank for credit card or PayPal payments and International Money Orders and Checks.
Q. What promotion methods do you use? Overture and Adwords.
Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results? Adwords.
Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you? Adwords.
Q. What is your biggest challenge each month? Finding enough time to take it easy as the business is so busy.
Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business? Buying Mark Joyner\'s \'Farewell Package\' as I wrongly thought it did not require further expenditure and would be within my capablities. It proved neither and was a total waste of $1000 as I had no idea how to change source codes and to employ someone else to do so would have cost me a small fortune. Even though I know some marketers benefitted greatly, especially Mike Chen, I felt the whole exercise was a disaster and I feel conned when I see the package lying idle on a shelf in my office.
Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business? I have never been busier and I am no longer concerned when large bills arrive on my desk as I know that the money is there to pay them. I am also able to afford two expensive holidays to the Philippines (my wife is a Filipina) when I can share some of my earnings with underpriviledged children over there. See one of my web sites: http://www.xmas2003.hypnotherapy-training.info
Q. How has your SureFireWealth.com membership helped you with your online business? It has given inspiration and some wonderful reading material. I continually look for new ideas and SureFire Wealth is full of them. I am also training my daughter into Internet Marketing and your site is helping her considerably.
Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you? Think hard as it is highly competitive. Rather than start from scratch, you can save a lot of hardship and headaches by considering my resale rights package when available. But if that is not for you, then my advice is not to get greedy as there is no point in \'killing the goose that laid the golden egg\'.
