Q. Please tell us a little about your background.
I have spent more than 20 years writing for a variety of industries---manufacturing, finacial, medical and real estate.
An unforseen event a few years ago has sky-rocketed me into my current occupation. I'm one of corporate America's latest downsizing victims. so...this became my opportunity to recreate myself.

Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field?
Because I've spent so many years writing for large corporations in various HR related positions, I felt this would be a good fit for me.

Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website?
First I enrolled in the AWAI Accelerated Program for Six-figure Copywriters by Michael Masterson to improve my skills. I did a lot of research via the web and through forum reviews before deciding that this program was the best of the best. And it has been! I've been blessed with steady work ever since I began to publicise my business. In fact, I've finished the Accelerated Program and have invested in the Master's Program which I'm currently working on in-between clients.

Q. How did you design and build your website?
Again, I did some web research and decided that I didn't have time to build a site from scratch so I'm currently using a hosted site with Register.com. They provide you with a variety of templates and offer 2 packages (5 or 20 page websites). I opted to start with the 5 page package for $50 per year.

Q. What software do you use to run your business?
I use a variety of Microsoft packages---Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Quicken for my accounting/bookkeeping software. I also have Front Page (still learning this in my spare time) and a few photo packages (Paint Shop Pro, Print Shop and Adobe)

Q. How does your website generate income?
I use affiliate links and have an order page on my website for those interested in direct contact.

Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services?
Through PayPal services

Q. What promotion methods do you use?
I use Direct Response (posting offered through AWAI), LinkedIn (through AMEX)and personal and business related referrals (networking)

Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results?
A combination of all of those I mentioned.

Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you?

Q. What is your biggest challenge each month?
Finding the time to generate new business, continue with my current course studies

Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business?
Investing in sites requiring that you bid for business.

Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business?
I have more time to spend with my family.

Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you?
Be open to suggestions and criticism. Be willing to take your time. It won't happen overnight. You will have to be willing to work hard and sometimes neglect other things to pursue your dream.
