Q. Please tell us a little about your background.
A. I am a forklift engineer and got online in 1997, I started my first website on a free host shortly afterwards, and in 1998 got my domain at http://www.titchmarsh.com.
I tried making money online back then, and made a little, lost a lot more and gave up until this year when I started my site at http://www.cashinonline.info. Since then I have also added sites at http://www.startscrapbookingsite.com for my wife who wants to make some money with scrapbooking. I am self taught in basics of PHP, CGI and HTML coding and learning more daily.
Q. What made you decide to start a website in the British Motorcycle field?
A. I started the site for DelboysBritishBikes.com for my dad, as he owns several British classic bikes. Originally it was intended for him to show friends and people he met at shows the rest of his collection.
Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website?
A. The site came first as stated above, the revenue chasing came this year with Adsense and we already had the information for the site as my dad restores all the bikes himself.
Q. How did you design and build your website?
A. I used Frontpage express to make the table layout, then used that in the template I purchased and added all text and photos by hand in notepad. The reason for not using FP express for the whole project is because it tends to mess up the basic template by adding some extra tags, but it is faster to make the tables in FP than by hand for me anyway. As my typing speed increases I find it easier and quicker to do more html in notepad. The only other addition to the basic template design was the Delboys scroll and title in the header graphic which was done in PaintShop Pro.
Q. What software do you use to run your business?
A. I am slowly building a toolbox for my business. So far I make a lot of little programs using Make Your Own Software, for updating websites with new pages as you can make it once and add everything in the exes from MYOS. I also use Ezine Announcer to promote my ezine and articles I write for promoting my business site http://www.cashinonline.info. Webdesign is mainly done in FP express/notepad and I use Sonic Page Blaster to create content pages for Adsense revenue and search engine attracting to niche products on my site.
Q. How does your website generate income?
A. I use affiliate programs to generate a little revenue, but most is made from Google Adsense, and also will be adding Amazon links to motorcycle related books and videos for more revenue.
Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services?
A. When I am selling ebooks at my main site I mainly use Paypal or Clickbank
Q. What promotion methods do you use?
A. Article writing, and link exchanging, along with search engine submission and safelists.
Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results?
A. Using an ezine to promote to email addresses captured on the site in subscription forms.
Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you?
A. Purchasing guaranteed targeted hits.
Q. What is your biggest challenge each month?
A. Persuading my wife I should keep spending money to build the business to eventually quit work and market full time online.
Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business?
A. Not staying focused enough on one thing to see it through.
Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business?
A. I am happier, but because I work full time (12 hours daily) until this generates enough money to go full time marketing I have no time for myself, and spend weekends building the business up.
Q. How has your SureFireWealth.com membership helped you with your online business?
A. It has offered me useful tools and products I can resell to help me increase my profits.
Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you?
A. Research first, unless you have an interest already in the subject, this could be hard work. For your first niche site it is much easier to write about something you know, and are already enthusiastic about. I share my dadfs love of his bikes so this was easy for me to stay interested in.
