Q. Please tell us a little about your background. I spent 17 years in Computer Sales, then opened my own Cruise only travel agency in Canada. I sold the agency in 2002 and later moved to California where my wife is in the Cruise Industry. I am now looking at various online business opportunities and trying to pick another niche.
Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field? I have 12 years experience in the Cruise Vacation business and wanted to have people understand what they were buying and what the jargon means. Helping people get good value and create memories of a terrific vacation, is a turn on.
Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website? I don't know anything about HTML programming, so I decided to go with SiteBuildIt, it was a complete package that allowed everything from research, to building the site, to SEO and monetizing, and it is worth the price.
Q. How did you design and build your website? Used Sitesell's SiteBuildIt
Q. What software do you use to run your business? SiteBuildIt
Q. How does your website generate income? Through Google Adsense and through affiliate sales.
Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services? From Google direct payment. Affiliate income comes from bookings made with affiliate company that takes credit cards.
Q. What promotion methods do you use? Word of mouth, link exchanges, business cards, blog etc.
Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results? Google searches apparently.
Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you? Adsense.
Q. What is your biggest challenge each month? Building fresh content and finding link partners.
Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business? Choosing a niche that is too wide with very big players. Would find a more narrow niche if I was to start again.
Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business? Still same good old regular guy.
Q. How has your SureFireWealth.com membership helped you with your online business? I just started my membership, but I can see this is a treasure trove of great, helpful and inspiriational resources that I wish I had know about earlier.
Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you? Don't do so broad a category, pick a smaller sub category and persue that.
