eyesore of a layout, but wonderfully written articles., August 05, 2007

I’m a computer freak, and I everything related to computers, thus I was intrigued by this site. My first impression about this website is that it is very informative, but somewhat messy. Despite the fact that the articles are very interesting and readable, the fact remains that the site is, on a scale of 1-10, ranks at #5 on my “Top Eyesore List”.
While it is certainly not as big an eyesore as other websites are, it does need improvement. The sidebar is okay, the images are okay, the colors are okay. But what made it a big eyesore for me was the fact that it used Times New Roman as its font. I had realized long before that Times New Roman on a website is a total turn-off, and makes the thing look unprofessional. Either my computer does not have the fonts the webmaster is using, or he just likes Times New Roman.
But on the whole, the website’s strengths are its informativeness, and its articles’ readability, engaging style and personal tone make it a good read, and so, despite the sloppiness, I still give the site 4 stars. : )

Very useful, August 06, 2007

I say this site is very helpful for people who have always had an interest in doing their own computer repairs or upgrades. The instructions are written in a very simple way, making it easy for readers or visitors to understand the whole procedure, and it also has an entire glossary of terms to ensure that you won't be confused by anything you might encounter when reading the directions. Apart from talking about computer repair, it also contains product reviews as well as website building guidelines. The site is laid out quite simply and is very easy to navigate. It also makes use of the occasional picture to identify certain computer parts. Best of all, you can easily have access to support pages for any questions. But what I especially like about this site is how it seems to speak personally to the visitor, without any confusing jargon or as if it talks down to the newbie DIY computer technician. Top notch job.
