Interview By: Jeremy Gislason Interview Date: 02-Aug-06
Q. Please tell us a little about your background. I played softball since the age of 9. In high school I was an All-State selection 3 years as well as All-Conference Player of the Year. I went on to further my career on a partial scholarship at the University of Hawaii. I assisted at Chaminade University for a year before coaching as an assistant at Kapolei high school. I also know work with younger age groups as well and am working on coordinating clinics here in Hawaii.
Q. What made you decide to start a website in the field? I enjoyed and continue to enjoy softball so much. I just wanted to share what I learned with others so that they could enjoy it as much as I have. I also want to help younger players become the best they can be.
Q. What kind of research went into this niche area before building your website? Not much. I basically wanted to build a website and many people said to build it about something I like, so I just chose softball. As I began adding more and more content, I found that I target coaches more than parents or players.
Q. How did you design and build your website? I did a lot of reading at www.webmonkey.com. I got a lot of advice from the women at the forums of www.WAHM.com and I joined Mom Masterminds.
Q. What software do you use to run your business? Aweber, Outlook, Adobe, that about it at this point.
Q. How does your website generate income? AdSense, affiliate sales, sales of my e-book.
Q. How do you collect payments for your products or services? PayPal
Q. What promotion methods do you use? Article marketing, press release writing, newsletter, link exchanges with related sites, directory submissions, participation in related forums.
Q. Which method has proven to give you the best sales results? Link exchanges with related sites and participation in related forums.
Q. Which method of traffic generation has proven to be the best for you? Same as above plus newsletter.
Q. What is your biggest challenge each month? Become more efficient and continue growth.
Q. What's the biggest mistake you've made since starting your business? I could be more organized and do more outsourcing.
Q. How has your lifestyle changed since you started your online business? I'm having more fun because I'm doing something I believe in an enjoy.
Q. How has your SureFireWealth.com membership helped you with your online business? Don't know yet, just joined.
Q. What would you say to someone looking to start a website in the same niche as you? Offer valuable content, don't build a cheap personal looking website, definitely learn about newsletters and lists. --------------------------------
Thanks Stacie!
