Yes, this little ebook is useful.
Too bad the author did not follow his advice.
The information was soooooooooo crammed in it was challenging to stay focused.
His software might be really good. The ebook is not a good indicator though.
If I were writing the ebook, I'd lay it out more like a web page especially since that is what he is writing about.
In short.. info is useful. Layout - which relates to readability - is terrible. |

The information was useful. It would have been better if the author had included samples of his recommended site make over to let us see the 'before' and 'after' look. Anyway I have used some of the information to make over my site.

Satisfactory tips, unsatisfactory layout, March 23, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Lynn Lopez |
I'm going to have to agree with Karen on this one. While the e-book contains a lot of sound tips and tricks, its layout could also do with a lot of work. The text is too bunched together and can be hard to read.
The 10 mistakes are all too often committed by graphic and Web designers and they could learn quite a bit from this e-book.
I didn't agree with all of the recommendations here, though. There are a couple of sites the e-book identified that I thought already looked pretty good, but then again, it could just be a matter of personal taste. What looks good to one person might look bad/bare/cluttered to another. Same with the design tips. For example, I and other designers I know prefer to use more muted color hues rather than strong and bright ones, but again--personal taste. The e-book makes a number of good points when it comes to typical design mistakes, but one doesn't always need to follow all the tips mentioned here. |

Fine. I like the layout on the pages of the e-book. At least the uniformity and the attractive play of black plus white plus red. I like the accents and the formatting. But what I don’t like is the fact that the author positively crammed way too much within his e-book’s pages.
They did say that if you were to lead, lead by example. Lynn and Karen are right, Marion Sanders should have followed his own advice. And looking at that surgeon putting on those gloves made me think he was about to do something really nasty. Not a very welcoming first page at all.
Still, I love the red accents, I love the fact that on one corner there he has the website he is doing a critique on, and then there is a pattern to his evaluations and recommendations. I love patterns and he takes a vote from me because of that. More so because he cited .Mac as a design must-copy. It is no secret that I love Steve Jobs’ innovativeness, genius and taste, and anyone praising anything remotely related to Steve Jobs gets my vote. |

This is a fun and entertaining but very informative report. At my first look at the e-book cover I thought the author was going to discuss each graphic mistake in detail. But he did something even better – he just outlined the ten common graphic mistakes (which are quite self-explanatory) and then proceeded to give website examples with those mistakes. I like the author’s wit and humor, particularly how he “diagnosed” each website and
”prescribed” the solution. He gives a pretty thorough review and specifies exactly what mistakes the website in question made.
The author’s illustrative writing style is way more effective for learning and application than just discussing the common graphic mistakes one by one.
This report is quite timely. Internet marketers sorely need to read this report, as majority of the websites I have visited so far have one or several of these mistakes. After all, the look of your website can actually make or break your sale.
