The Insider's Guide To Website Protection By Jason Tarasi
Great Site Back up Info, October 23, 2007

I just downloaded and read the content of this ebook. I'm disappointed. It provides great step by step instructions on how to back up your website, but that's about it though.
If you want the website protection information you need to sign up for the newsletter. The ebook is mistitled.
But, if you want to learn how to back up your website or set up synchronized site backup the information in this ebook is something worth having and doing.

By website protection, this e-book really means protecting your website from a complete data eradication by constantly backing up your files. A smart piece of advice, actually, something that you should already be doing even without being reminded. If you're not sure how to backup your website files, then take a look at two backup options provided by this e-book and see which one is most suited to your webhost.
Not a bad guide, really, but it's not the best, either. There are quite a few other e-books out there that provide more substantial information on protecting your website in case your host's server completely crashes or suffers a hacking. On its own, however, you can call this a fairly informative guide. (What particularly annoys me though is how the author mistakenly uses "where" instead of "were" from time to time.) Definitely useful for those who have yet to realize how important it is to protect one's data.

Short but golden, October 27, 2007
In this e-book, the author gives the simple but sometimes overlooked golden rule in website protection – back up. He gives a good wake-up call by saying that your web host is simply not responsible for backing up your files, so basically it’s your responsibility.
He then gives a step-by-step guide on how to back up your files. What makes his guide very clear are the pictures – particularly the scans of the Internet browser –that accompany each step. Also, he does not limit you to one program for backing up. He gives other program options for doing so. I also appreciate that he gives you extra steps to check if indeed your information has been backed up. Lazy or busy Internet business owners will find that backing up is very easy through the methods the author teaches.
I am happy and have absolutely no problem with this e-book except for a few grammatical errors, but the very substantial information here is already more than enough to compensate.

What I like about this report is that it doesn’t mince words. Especially at the last part, where it does admit that it’s out to scare the reader to action. If that isn’t sheer chutzpah, then I don’t know what is.
Though there are some stray grammatical errors, I, for one, can ignore them, because I believe that this e-book is highly relevant and sobering. True, there are quite a number of webmasters who are used to backing up data. There are also users of Windows computers, who are so used to backing up because of having to contend with an excess of five times a day of system crashes. But what about us Mac and Linux users who are spoiled by our systems?
I have been so spoiled by the Mac (OS X Tiger) system, that recently, I hadn’t really thought about backing up, except to free up hard drive space. Since this computer hasn’t been turned off for more than 3 weeks, and even then, only briefly, it’s hard to get a sense of urgency for backup, until this e-book.
Though having files on a server is different, as opposed to being on a personal computer, the analogy is still relevant, as all the components of file hosting for web hosting are done on computers.
This e-book gave me a cautionary reminder, before I venture into a website of my own, that it is actually still a must for anyone and everyone to back up. It reminded me that some people I work with have server problems, and it is unavoidable on the Internet.
Relevant? This e-book is. Better keep the principles this puts forth in your mind. If you have a website, you will surely need it.
