This e-book certainly is a good guide to a newbie to blogging. Because this is for newbies, it has a for-dummies feel to it. And yet there is nothing in this that the blogging pro won’t enjoy either.
I am a blogger, and so I know the trade by heart. My only complaint with this entire guide is the fact that they recommend that you “plan at least 20 posts” and “create a posting schedule”.
I disapprove of that practice specifically because I believe that blogging is a spontaneous activity and that it is not supposed to be done in such a straitlaced manner. There are breaking-news posts, and as blogging is becoming like newspaper publication nowadays, the posting has to conform to current events and trends. If you plan 20 posts in advance, your posts may no longer be that relevant by the time you have posted.
But on the whole, the e-book is a good read and a good guide. This is just my two cents’ worth. |

Good info, but ..., October 19, 2007 |

Although this book has some great information and it's written in an easy-breezy conversational style, it's following a trend I've been seeing for quite some time ... that I don't particularly care for.
It's offered as a resell product, yet it has an entire page devoted to promoting the author's Super-Blogger's Toolkit. Plus there are numerous links at the end to the author's other websites.
Yes, the reseller may make a few bucks selling the product, but who is truly benefitting?
Why don't authors of these self-promotional ebooks allow resellers to insert affiliate links? Then both people would benefit.
Just my 2 cents. |

| If you're completely new to blogging, or if you just want to make the most out of your blog, then you can turn to this product for some guidance. It doesn't really say anything new, but it can talk you through the whole process of starting your blog as well as coming up with ideas on what you can write. It will also help you consider which blogging style you can use and how you can do your promotion. But don't expect this e-book to turn you into a superstar blogger or something. This e-book's main purpose is to simply get you started on blogging. Good product, despite the fact that you won't be able to squeeze out any groundbreaking information here, if you're a blogging veteran. But definitely one for the newbies. Still, it won't hurt to grab this product if you need to recapture your passion for blogging. |

Good read for beginner bloggers, November 11, 2007 |
Beginner bloggers would find this an excellent source. In this e-book, Doug Champigny shows the basics of blogging and promoting blogs for business in simple steps spread out across seven days. To measure your success, he also tells you things you should look at one month after you started blogging.
I especially found the part – or “day” – on social networking and bookmarking of the blog useful as not many beginner bloggers may be familiar with these options to promote their blogs. The advanced options for blog promotion are also helpful.
To make each “day” more eye-catching, though, titles should be more actionable. For example, “giving your readers what they want” can be re-phrased to “identify and give your readers what they want.” Titles should also be placed at the center, directly under each “day.”
Also, there is missing information – probably a link – on how to bookmark a blog aside from the traditional adding to your favorites.
Though Champigny’s light and conversational writing style makes this e-book easy to read, there is sometimes too much text. He can use some bullet points especially in sections where he enumerates (e.g. the popular types of blog posts).
This is not the best writing, considering the fragmented sentences and grammatical errors, but the content is arguably well worth the read.
