Any diets that tells you, you can lose more than two pounds of body weight a week is dangerous to your health.

All these so say fast weight loss diets are only good for the short term may be a week or so after that your health is at risk and why would you want to do that? Why risk your health.

Don't diet, theres no need for any one to diet, all you need to do is change your eating habits and exercise abit more. ( Think About It )

By cutting out all the unhealthy food and exercising, you will start to lose weight slowly over time,( which, by the way is the best way to go about it,) losing those extra pounds will start in about aweek , fast weight loss diets can be dangerious.

Fast foods, Junk food, Red meats, Beer, Smoking are but a few of the things you will have to cut out.

  • More fresh vegetables.
  • More Fresh Fruit.
  • More oily fish.
  • White meat.
  • Cook useing a steamer instead of boiling, frying or baking.
  • Get out and about, exercise, even if it's only walking.

The US Department of Agriculture has designed the food pyramid.

It is a illustrated label, shaped like a pyramid, which demonstrates groups of essential food types and the quantity in which a normal person requires each of these foods.

At the base of the food pyramid are such food items that serve as ready sources of energy. These are rich in starch, low in fat, and include cereals, pasta, bread, and different types of grains. By the specifications of the food pyramid, a normal adult individual needs 6 to 11 servings of these items daily.

Whole grains are the best and healthiest food of this group . In a single serving of these foods you can include a slice of whole meal bread, a cup of cereal flakes, one flat tortilla, and one ounce of brown rice or whole wheat pasta.

As the geometry of the food pyramid shows, vegetables and fruits are required in less quantity than carbohydrates. Normally, a grown person would need 3 to 5 servings of vegetables and or 2 to 4 servings of fruits daily.

The high fiber content of vegetables and fruits. Make them ideal food items as fiber keeps the bowel movements in order. In addition, they are both rich in vitamins (required for immunity and general health) and minerals, which ensure the proper functioning of various body organs. Among vegetables, go for more dark green vegetables and try to pick fresh fruits instead of fruit juices, pure fruit juices are fine as long as they have no added sugar.       

Next upper chamber in the food pyramid is proteins and dairy products. You need 2 to 3 servings daily of each of these foods. Protein comes from lean meat, eggs, fish, beans, and nuts. It is advisable to remove the visible fat on the meat so as to make it a low fat item, fish such as herring, salmon, haddock, mackerel are all high in omega 3, great for the heart and brain.

Be moderate in using nuts, since they also hold some fats. Among the dairy products, skimmed milk is the complete diet with most of the required vitamins and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. Cheese and yogurt are also recommended dairy foods, as long as there low fat or fat free.

At the top of the food pyramid lie fats, including oils, sweets and salts. The recommended quantity of these items is limited to sparing use only.

Butter, cream, oils, candies, margarines etc., are all foods that are not easy to digest and hence should be used in minimal amounts. 

By useing the pyramid listed above you can easyly work out a good healthy diet which will help you lose those unwanted pounds but don't forget you have to exercise aswell, ones no good with out the other.

It is also recomended to drink up to eight glasses of water a day to help flush out your system, drinking water before a meal helps you get that full up feeling thus you tend to eat less than normal.
