The collective consciousness of wealth and prosperity

Have you ever noticed that thought and attitude are contagious?

For example, let’s say you take a vacation to Jamaica.  The laidback nature of the people, the culture, is more than just a vacation phenomenon.  If you were a fly on the wall, i.e. not on vacation but simply spying on the locals, you’d notice that they’re significantly more laid back than say your average Manhattan inhabitant.

If you live in an environment which is very religious, chances are that religion even if it has never been on your radar or part of your upbringing, will become part of your life.  Now you may not start going to church regularly but religion and religious theory is going to enter your life – it’s almost guaranteed.

The collective consciousness is defined by Robert Kennedy as A mode of awareness, in which we directly experience, through an intuitive felt-sense, our union with the interconnected wholeness of life, and recognize ourselves in others. Our identity extends beyond our individual boundary and embraces the collective, through a free and conscious act of identification, rather than through definition by convention or external authority.

Simply, if it can actually be simply defined, we’re connected.  You can use the power of the collective conscious to bring more into your life.

You’re familiar, I’m sure, with many rags to riches stories.  The story of Chris Gardner for example, he is the self-made millionaire, entrepreneur, motivational speaker and philanthropist who, during the early 1980s, struggled with homelessness while raising his young son.  He surrounded himself with mentors, people whose goals were the same as his, people who were focused on success in the same industry – stock brokers.

It’s just one of thousands of success stories.  It goes beyond mentorship thought that is certainly part of it.  Our lives are directly affected on a deep level by the people we surround ourselves with.

You want to be more artistic – go live in an artistic community – Paris for example - and surround yourself with people who inspire you artistically.

You want a laid back lifestyle where money is secondary to the lure of the sun, sand and sea?  Go to Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Fiji.

You want to become a novelist, surround yourself with writers.

You want to become a wealthy business owner?  Surround yourself with wealthy business owners.

It’s about more than learning from the masters.  It’s about tapping into the collective consciousness of such an environment and utilizing it to create your vision of your future.  To create the success and prosperity you desire.

Step One:  Determine what it is you desire.  If it is wealth and prosperity in the software development industry then write it down.  Create a vision statement so you’re 100% clear on what you’re setting your sights on.  What you’re striving for.  Place that vision statement somewhere accessible, somewhere you can see it every day.

Step Two:  Ask yourself if you’re surrounded by the right people?  Now this isn’t an invitation to leave the life as you know it behind. It’s merely a time to assess your present situation.  Is there anyone in your life who is a negative force?  Someone who is constantly telling you, your dreams are impossible?  You can’t do it?  Now may be the time to ask that person to support you.

Likewise who are the positive forces in your life?  The people who are supporting you and want to see you succeed?  Make a point of telling those who do support you ‘thank you’ and spend more time with them.

Step Three:  Make a list of people who are successful in your industry or relevant industries – meaning they’re not competition.  Try to list at least 20 people you’d like to talk with, have coffee with, and do business with.  Don’t set limits.  If Bill Gates is on your list then great!  If you’re aspiring to get into a sports industry and you’d love to chat with Peyton Manning then put him on your list.

If you aspire to open a thriving home organization business then by all means put Martha Stewart on the list!

Step Four:  Gather the contact information for the people on your list and create a schedule for connecting with them.  For example, if Bill Gates is on your list then find out how to contact him and set a date to contact him.  Simply let him know you’d like five minutes of his time to learn the secret to his success.

Step Five:  Surround yourself with people who are on the same path you are.  This means participating, or even forming, mastermind groups.  Finding a mentor or a coach who is dedicated to your success.  Simply put – put yourself on the path to success by engaging the help of others.

Step Six:  Read.  Inspiration comes in many forms.  Reading about the success and the path to success for people both in your industry and outside your industry will not only help you stay focused on your goals, it will also inspire you to reach perhaps beyond your goals.  Reading about the lives, successes and failures of others, will show you perhaps a different way of doing things.  It will give you compassion and understanding, for others and for yourself, and it will move you to pursue your dreams.

Of course you have to choose the right books to read, you don’t want to read something that brings you down or has the effect of squashing your dreams.  Try the four hour work week by Tim Ferris if you want an enjoyable read and insight from someone who definitely thinks outside the box.

Step Seven:  Stop planning and start acting.  Action speaks louder than words – this is true both with personal relationships and with the universe.  When you start taking active steps to achieve your goals, the collective consciousness helps you remain active.  You can simply by your actions start changing the collective consciousness around you.  That means you can not only change your life – you can influence the lives of others around you.  Pretty powerful stuff!

Still doubting the power of the collective conscious?  Think about the current mood on the state of the economy.  It’s gloom and doom and the mood is spreading faster than dandelions on a summer lawn.  Even people who are relatively unaffected are feeling poorly about the state of the economy.  The collective consciousness is that the economy is bad and we’re all suffering, even if we’re not.

The converse can be true and you can take part in a collective consciousness that has hope, sees opportunity and refuses to participate in that line of thought.

Wealth and prosperity are still very real opportunities.  Take advantage of the people out there who support you, who believe that wealth and prosperity are possible, and who inspire you to realize your dreams.  Find or create your own collective consciousness and let it lead you to your goals.

I used to believe this, and now I know it.

You know, if you told me, 13 years ago, that “we’re all connected,” I wouldn’t have believed you.

If you told me the same thing 10 years ago, I would’ve probably said “yea, I understand that intellectually.”

And within the past few weeks, this “idea” that we’re all connected has settled into the place in me that I call “knowing”.

In fact, I know that I am already the wealth that I seem to seek. I am it all already, I’m just in the process of manifesting it into the physical world.

You’ve heard of the book Think and Grow Rich? Well, to me it should be Know and Grow Rich. By Knowing, I mean that I know that I’m everything, and by Grow Rich, I mean that I’m in the process of manifesting that into the physical world.

The inherent misunderstanding with a lot of this Law of Attraction stuff starts the idea that “you can bring into your life what you want.”

The idea that we can bring into our lives what we want isn’t false, but it can lead to a false assumption: that we’re separate from what we want.

That’s simply not true, because as I’ve said, you ARE everything you already want, you just have to DO what you need to do in order to HAVE it, or manifest it into the physical world.

As for me, I’m in the process of manifesting wealth and prosperity by offering my direct-response copywriting and business strategy services to business owners who need a clear, concise way to communicate their offers to their target markets, as well as a strategy for doing so.

I’m also thankful that I have the right people in my life. I’ve been coached by Ryan Healy and John Angel.

I also have a great mastermind group I belong to.

The most important thing, for me, is to take action. Take action consistently, and focused action that doesn’t allow you to go off on tangents. For example, I’m taking all of my action toward succeeding as a business strategist and direct-response copywriter, and I have so many other opportunities that come my way that I have to SAY NO to those ones, and stick with this one.

I have to agree, especially with the part about associating with the right people and collaborating or at least social networking. Action is a big part as well. I get inspiration from people not just online but in other forms of media. It keeps me going. Anyway thanks for your article

  3. Chaz. Says:

    Great article guys.

I truly believe that we all create our own reality. It’s not to say that we can control absolutely everything that happens in our lives, which would be ridiculous.

However….thinking ‘right’ and more importantly thinking and acting with good intentions certainly stacks the odds in your favour. You are simply increasing the chances of attracting good ‘things’ and experiences into your life and at the same time decreasing the chances of attracting negative experiences into your life.

And let’s be honest and realistic, we are human, shit does happen in life. BUT, like I said, thinking good, prosperous thoughts will definitely increase your chances of attracting abundance to you. And if the not so good ’stuff’ comes along, then at the very least you will be well prepared to deal with it.

It’s all about ‘Cause and Effect’. If you work from the stand point of, “I am the cause of all that comes to me”, then it gives you total personal power to move on and do something about it.

This may be a bit hard for some people to swallow, but if you think about it, if you didn’t attract and manifest any of the bad stuff that comes into your life, then you also didn’t attract or manifest any of the good and positive experiences either.

Which would mean you just absolve yourself of all responsibility for everything that happens in your life. Which, in turn means…we could all just sit back and take whatever comes to us. Hmmm, I don’t think so.

Even if ‘Cause and Effect’ is just a theory, it is the best stand point for you to work from. Simply because you’re saying, “I’m taking full responsibility for everything that happens in my life.” Which empowers you to go and do great things.

Learn from the ‘crap’, adjust and move on. Keep on keeping on, thinking right, doing the right thing….and good will come.

You are slowly but surely feeding and saturating your subconscious mind with all that is good. Your subconscious mind then starts to believe the thoughts and images you feed it. Those thought vibrations go out and attract back experiences and circumstances of the same nature, it’s a universal law.

The only reason I know this, is because I have and I still am experiencing it. I have a ‘vision board’ of all the goals I’m going to achieve. I also have a ‘Mind Movie’ (very powerful).

Give it time and keep believing, this is the key. Developing an unshakeable belief, an inner ‘knowing’ of what you want and watch the magic happen.

You will start to attract like minded people and circumstances into your life. And like I said, when the not so good stuff happens, you’ll simply accept it, learn from it, break through it and move on.

I urge you to try it on. If you are still not 100% convinced of the law of attraction, then you might want to think why you’re reading this.

    Hello Jeremy,

A popular saying states that “that who’s with wolves walk, like wolves learn to howl,” this is a clear picture of how “the collective” impact on our lives since we are exposed to learn and act on the collective consciousness.

The important thing in this instance is to have the ability to define the collective consciousness that surrounds us and the sense that it affects our lives, whether negative or positive, so from our minds with this rule adjustment to our understanding of well-being and prosperity.

If my thinking and my actions are in constant abundance in welfare and prosperity, then it will have any effect on my mood negative considerations about the current state of the economy.

The purpose of the economy is to ensure welfare and prosperity individually and collectively, and if there is a failure then we have to find the cause to change it and so restore order to allow the act to produce well-being and prosperity.

    Receive warm regards,
    With blessings,

    Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,

Great insight into getting what you want out of a business. I believe it is a good idea to be and associate yourself with the top people you believe in, in your area(s) of expertise, but that sometimes is hard to do or impossible, depending on who it is you want to be like or look up to!! But I agree it is the best way to get your goals like the person you want to be like.

And yes, I agree that folks are generally down and out about the economy. But it all depends on if Obama gets elected, I predict it will appear to get better and maybe for a year or 2, but when all his policies and colleagues work gets deep into the system, we’ll be right back if not worse off than we are now! If McCain get elected, it will seem like it’s getting worse at first, but will gradually work into being better!!

Like what I say means anything, anyway, good work Gabe,
    James

  6. Marlene Says:

I could not agree with you more!

The power of the subconscious mind creates what we are thinking. This is called “self-fulfilling prophecy”. We create in this way every minute of every day.

If you believe that everything is doomed, it is. Not because — objectively — it has to be … but it has to be because you believe it so! AND you get to be right … every time! That is the nature of subconscious-mind creation.

So, conversely, if you believe that there is abundance in the Universe … and that you share in this abundance, you do. Not because it has to be … but it has to be because you believe it so! AND you get to be right … every time! That IS the nature of our subconscious-mind creation.

    ‘Keep up the sharing,
    Marlene

Golden words! The same is true of faith. Most civilisations in the world as we know it today revel in focusing on and celebrating the negative - hence the negative collective consiousness we are experiencing today.

I hope enough people will stumble upon this timeless truth and turn their lives around.

    Thanks

  9. Bogdan Says:

    Hi Jeremy,

    Great article and great responses.
It shows that awareness of low of attraction becomes more accepted fact than ever before.

One thing which I disagree with is concentration on “action” part. According to low of attraction, all you need is desire and allowing of it.

The biggest problem of all attempts to become successful (whatever domain it is) is lack of specific direction (definite purpose), then believing in it.

It has been said many times in large volumes of motivational literature that “thoughts are things”.

All it is required is to have definite purpose and burning desire to accomplish it.

Things like association with appropriate people, and acting and plans are only manifestation of our desires or things helping with maintaining and developing of it. The stronger we desire something, the easier and faster appropriate people and circumstances get across our path.

Believe in action is quite often a main result of disappointments and quitting. After some period of trying and seeing no results, one loses the belief.

If you approach things the other way, the belief will drive the action and will create circumstances helping with your goal.

You will never get disappointed with lack of results of your actions, as no action was the the bases of your directions. If you believe in something, you will keep doing it without any rewards because just doing it, is giving you all you need. The recognition, and money or whatever might be coming with it is just a bonus.

In short having the desire to have something and strongly believing in it, is all you will need to get things done. If there will be any action, it will be mostly action of the universe to get you to the goal. Your action no matter how much effort you put into it, will be insignificant in comparison to what universe can do for you.

Very often you hear from some people how hard they work and they complain that they have no results, then you hear about some people who work hard and got results, and then you see people who didn’t do much and received it all.

In all this cases, it is not the action which brings the results. For some people working hard helps with enforcing their believes, for some not working but just imaging results is good enough and for some working hard doesn’t do anything because they have not developed any directions (desires) and they are much like a car without the steering wheel. They have no power in maintaining any direction so they are just spinning their wheels most of the time.

You can read in the Bible that knocking on the door will get them opened for you, (even if it is meant to just get rid for you).
You hear those kind of sayings like “squeaky wheel gets the grease”.

This is just proof that all you need to do is to be heard and be persistent with it and things will happen.

Big kudos! It’s wonderful to see blogs like this popping up on the internet. More and more people are becoming aware of their power to manifest their own realities, and of the importance of surrounding themselves with like minded individuals, particularly those who have already attained what we desire. It cannot be understated just how important this is in today’s society. As we shift ourselves, we also send out shock waves into the collective, first in our immediate area, and then into the world at large. This will ultimately bring about the change on the planet that we are all wanting.
    peace

  11. Dennis Says:

While I don’t really disagree with anything you wrote, and in fact, much of it is a part of my own belief system, the steps you outline to find a mentor don’t seem very practical for the vast majority of us.

I don’t mean to be a wet blanket, especially since I appreciate all you do, but the odds of getting an audience with a Bill Gates must be a billion-to-one or steeper. These kind of people undoubtedly have hundreds or thousands who would like them to mentor them…why would they choose to take any one of us under their wing?

To be a mentor, they have to be available to you on a somewhat consistent basis, especially at critical times in your development. But they have lives, and aren’t likely to give much of it up because you want them to teach you and guide you to success.

It’s unlikely you’ll even get the elite to personally respond to a very simple and brief email, let alone get them to take the time to become your mentor. Heck, I haven’t even been able to get you to repond to my email, let alone a Bill Gates!

You did hit on a very big key - which is why I am responding to this post because I want to bring this key to the forefront for others - since actually talking to these folks is highly unlikely, and having them become your mentor even more unlikely, and that key point is…the closest most of us will ever get to them is to read what they’ve written. Read everything you can get your hands on that they put out. You’ll learn practical things, and if you’re studious, you’ll learn some of how their mind works. Learning how they think can change your thinking, and that could be a huge key to your success.

More practical is to find local mentors. They may not have as big of a name, but they also are less likely to have a herd of hopeful groupies making demands of them. They may even be highly flattered and will be glad to work with you if you present yourself in the right way.

There is plenty you can learn from the smaller fish, and step-by-step you can climb the ladder to the more influencial.

As far as a collective conciousness, it’s “out there” in many forms. The masses tap into the strongest pulls of it unconciously, which in these times is often negative in nature. The wise can tap into the subtler threads, which is often opportunity waiting for someone to take action on it.

    Have a great day!

  12. John/Annette Says:

Thank You for your great article. You hit the nail on the head. We believe in being positive in everything that we do. We like to keep any of the negitavity out of everything, even though they might creep in at times. I find it hard to surround myself with the people I need because their interests are far from being anywhere close to mine. The collective consience is a great idea by getting people together either in person or on the phone for instance. This way a lot can get done working together as well as dreams becoming reality.

  13. Keith Boynton Says:

WHat you say in this article about making sure that you associate with people who are of a similar mind frame of reference as yourself ans who have the same goals and aspirations as you have is correct.

This is vital for anyone seecking success in any field of endeavor.

However, there is one thing that most people never mention.

If you’ve ever asked someone to try and help you, and that someone is in the very same field of work that you’re trying top learn about, then why would that person want to create more competition for themselves by making you successful?

This is the one secret that non one ever mentions.

People who know more about a particular subject than you do will almost certainly make sure that if there is one secret to their success they’re not going to give it to you!

There are a lot of secrets about success that are not going to be shared with others simply because this information will impact negatively oness of the person holding the information who won’t reveal their success methods to anyone.

I must also say, that most people will reveal their success formula for a price.

So remember, whenever someone says that they have your interest at heart, they are lying!

They have their own interest at heart, and not yours.
