Advertising Tips for Fundraisers or Non-Profit Groups

You have your schools fundraisers coming up and the pressure is on. You may be part of a charitable group and you need to raise money for a new program or to keep current programs in place. The situations are different but the importance of this work can’t be denied.

You have your volunteers in place, your fundraising product picked or event planned. What you need is a good turn out for your event. Try some of the following tips to generate interest and increase your revenue.

Social Media

Yes there's that phrase again! Social media sites like facebook, twitter, linkedin etc will let you register a free account and sign up friends. Your network gives you free advertising and the ability to talk to the people who are most likely to support you. With a little bit of effort you can keep things fresh and interesting with your network and make sure they are educated to how they can help with what your doing next.

Advertising Paid by Donors

Hopefully you have a master list of donors or businesses who give to you annually. Check if any of these businesses would put a tag line on part of their upcoming advertising for you. Along the lines of:

“…we are proud to sponsor the upcoming “MS Bike-a-Thon being held…”

Many corporations and businesses can benefit from by being associated with a charity or non – profit group. This is a win - win situation for all corporations associated with your charitable organization.

Contacting Direct Marketing Companies

Many direct mail companies deliver advertising material door to door in a community wide or national basis. Again is can be of interest for both parties to be helpful to each other. This would show a caring attitude for the communities these companies deliver to. Ask these mail direct companies if they will include an advertisement for you free of charge in their next package.

Sell Ad Space Through Your Organization

Maybe your company prints flyers, newsletters, posters to advertise their charities already. This idea can be beneficial in a number of ways. By keeping your donors updated with the exciting work that your organization is doing, you keep them happy with the contributions they are contributing. Donors continue to support and tend to increase donations to charities that are responsible with their money.

When you are sending out these letters sell a few blocks of advertising space. It doesn’t have to a huge statement but something tastefully done. Again this shows good press for the company involved.

Celebrity Support

Call your local radio station, TV, music or sports celebrity to attend the charitable event. There are local people with talent just waiting for a chance to get involved. Helping your event help them get great press and helps their career.

With local talent coming out call the newspapers and other media to get them to cover the event. They might even be able to run an ad for you to help promote the event.

If you use some or all these tips they will help defray the cost of your advertising, keep your name alive and active and keep your activities well attended.
